The End of the AI Monopoly: For the first time in iOS history, Apple is allowing users to choose the “brain” behind their assistant. Here is how the new Extensions Framework works in the iOS 27 beta.

1. Downloading the AI Agent #

To use an extension, you must first have the corresponding app installed from the App Store.

Claude: Requires the Anthropic app (v4.2+).
Grok: Integrated via the X (Twitter) app.
Gemini: Requires the Google app or standalone Gemini app.

2. Enabling the Extension #

Navigate to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Extensions. Here, you will see a list of “Validated AI Agents.” Toggle the switch to On for the providers you wish to use.
